Field Safety Inspector

Opportunities exist currently for a Field Safety Inspector based out of our Regina location.

NOTE: Candidates with knowledge in the High Voltage industry and High Voltage Substations will be given preference.

NOTE: this role is a field/site role and travel will be required

Reporting to the HSE Manager, the Field Safety Inspector develops, administers, and implements companywide occupational safety programs and serves as the coordinator for the occupational safety programs within Rising Edge Technologies. The Field Safety Inspector plans, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates departmental occupational safety programs.


  • Responsible for safety orientation, safety training, job site inspections and reporting.
  • Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation.
  • Perform job site safety compliance inspections, including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations.
  • Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety program by all employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure the timely completion of accident/injury reporting.
  • Assist in the implementation, and evaluation of departmental occupational safety programs.
  • Provide guidance to field personnel via safety briefings.
  • Provide advice and counsel to management and other employee groups on a broad range of occupational safety issues and decisions.
  • Assist by providing feedback to safety standards that conform to industry standards and federal, provincial and local regulations.
  • Inspecting or review work sites, equipment, processes, and work activities for hazardous conditions.
  • Offer feedback/suggestions for occupational safety training for various workgroups, including evaluation and modification of programs to meet local, provincial, and federal OHSA requirements.
  • Deliver inspections, investigations, and occupational safety activities within different departments of RET.
  • Direct and review the analysis of accident and injury data, identifying the needs for new or modified occupational safety programs.
  • Research occupational safety information to assure the best available methods and equipment are adopted to minimize the hazards in the workplace.
  • Advise on improvements in tracking and reporting procedures.
  • Lead and/or participate on advisory groups with safety, technical, management, and other team members.
  • Provide direction and/or guidance to less experienced occupational safety personnel.
  • Provide training to managers and others on occupational safety issues.


  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation is required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an administrative function is required
  • Canadian Registered Safety professional (CRSP) designation is an asset
  • Experience in the High Voltage Industry is a definite asset
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills is preferred
  • Thorough understanding of Incident Investigation, conformance verification and Root Cause Analysis is an asset
  • Valid Driver’s license with an acceptable driving required
