The Lower Churchill generating station in Labrador is online!

Since November of 2017, 55 RET workers have been hard at work on the project across five different sites, supporting GE and Nalcor in Commissioning an LCP DC link.

Check out the details on the project: https://lnkd.in/eKsZdPM

All that effort has contributed to an incredible milestone - the first time that electricity from Labrador has powered businesses and homes in Newfoundland! The Churchill Falls generating station is delivering power to the new converter and terminal station at Soldiers Pond, just outside St. John's.

Stretching almost 1,500 kilometres across rugged terrain and along the sea floor this is the most complex and robust transmission project in Newfoundland and Labrador’s history. Significantly, the project will displace oil fired generation resulting in a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions - the equivalent amount of clean energy as the removal of 3.2 million vehicles off the road each year.

RET is proud to have been involved in this groundbreaking and important project.

It’s that time of year – the Calgary Stampede is back!

Last Friday, RET staff got together to celebrate with a BBQ at our Fleet Office in Calgary. Our Estimating Manager, Brian Culp, braved the heat in front of the grill to cook up burgers and hot dogs.

RET reminds everyone to be safe and have a happy Stampede!
